Changing Nameservers
Please submit the new server details on our online form. If you wish to change other information at the same time please refer to this section. Server changes should normally be submitted by the registrant or by the technical contact or by the registrant's authorised agent if the domain was registered through a registration company or ISP. If this is not practicable we can accept instructions from a third party providing we have a letter of authority from the registrant. This letter should be sent by post to our office address. Where a change is urgent a signed copy may be faxed to us on 0870 321 2289, or sent by email (attached in the form of a PDF file only). Please note that server changes all receive manual oversight from our technical department and are therefore not processed instantly. We aim to make all server changes in the root within 24-48hrs. Please note that in any event, server changes can take some time to propagate, due to the distributed nature of the Domain Name System. (Where a change is urgent please contact us and we can usually help) NB: You should only supply the hostnames (FQDNs) for your nameservers (e.g. ns1.alderney.com). You are not normally required to supply us with the IP addresses for your nameservers. They are not needed unless you also require 'glue' because one or more nameservers are in the same domain they are authoritative for.
