General Notes on the Application Process |
|
To register a domain name in the Channel Islands Domain Registry or obtain a web address ending in .GG or .JE you must submit an application. You may apply to us directly, via an approved reseller, or use a name registration agent. New customers must use our online form. Applications using the email template will now only be accepted from existing customers or resellers. All applications are accepted subject to our standard Terms and Conditions including our price list. Please ensure you have read both documents before completing our form. All applications undergo an automatic check. If the application is syntactically correct - that is to say, that there are no obvious errors in the technical information - and no essential fields are missing, you should expect to receive an acknowledgment of your application, and a reference number (also known as ticket number) within an hour of submitting your application. If your application contains obvious errors you will be told about them while filling out the form, and in any event within 5 minutes of submitting the form. If you do not receive an acknowledgement of application, you will receive an email explaining what is wrong.
Please note that if you do receive an error message, your application has been rejected for the reasons stated in that error message. In that event, please read the message carefully, correct the problem and resubmit your application. You should contact us by email at if you need further guidance or assistance in making your application, or if you do not receive either an automatic acknowledgement or a rejection. Issuing you with a reference number does not mean that your application has yet been accepted; it simply indicates that it has been received by the registry and entered into the queue for processing on a FIFO (first-in-first-out) basis. Although applications are handled by automatic processes, each registration is subject to human oversight, thus completion of the application/registration process is NOT instantaneous. We aim to process all applications within 2-3 working days. If your application is particularly urgent, please do not hesitate to contact us by email or telephone, as same day service is often possible in urgent situations (no extra charge). If your application has been successful you will receive a further message once your application has been accepted, advising you of the registration of your domain. If your desired domain is not available, or if we are unable to register it for any other reason, we will normally advise you within 24-48 hours of receiving your application, often sooner. |
